Joaquin Phoenix's performance and graceful way of posing ripped into my soul with it's mixture of self-abhorrence and self-destruction at the hands of a callous, power-hungry city. But there is redemption in art—for it brings to light the things in ourselves and our world that we would refuse to redeem, but that someone showed ourselves to us … and therein convinced us that we are all worth much redemption.
